What national council reps are supposed to do

From the Ottawa Centre Bylaws: 8.14 DUTIES OF THE NATIONAL COUNCIL REPRESENTATIVE(S)

The National Council Representative(s) and alternate(s) shall

  1. attend all meetings of the National Council for which he or she is so authorized and as may be reasonably practicable,

  2. represent the Centre's interests, subject to the direction of the Centre Council, at the National Council, and

  3. report to the Centre Council and to the appropriate Centre officers the business conducted by and the activities of the National Council.

What the NC reps actually do

Forward ad hoc requests from Ottawa council to the national council or individual councilors as appropriate

Before every quarterly meeting 

Forward each draft agenda to Ottawa council members and solicit additions and alterations for forwarding to the NC chair

Attending each meeting

Track the tenor of the meeting as well as the formal business

Cause Ottawa's issues and concerns to be recognized at NC and the national office

After every monthly meeting 

Report in writing to Ottawa council pertinent trends in deliberations as well as potential action required, pending circulation of the draft minutes.

Other

Participate in the Ottawa centre council.
